Seit 1995 ist die Kapelle HISS nun unterwegs. Als der Ätna und der Eyjafjallajökull ausbrachen, als Jahrhundertfluten und Hurricanes große Schäden verursachten, hat sie uns aufgemuntert und getröstet. Nach der Niederlage Deutschlands gegen Kroatien im Viertelfinale der Fußball-WM 1998 und in der Finanzkrise, nach der Atomkatastrophe von Fukushima und während vieler Epidemien half sie uns, die Übersicht zu bewahren, die Dinge einzuordnen und zu bewältigen. Seit 1995 liefern HISS lyrische Lebenshilfe für alle Lagen des Daseins, den Rhythmus für ausgelassene Tanzabende, den Soundtrack zu unserem Alltag. Und das, ohne viel zu fordern: Tosender Applaus, etwas Wein, eine Brotzeit und ein paar Münzen sind ihnen Lohn genug. „Für eine Handvoll Cent“ heißt daher auch ihr neuer Tonträger, der im 30. Jahr ihres Bestehens erscheint und uns mit mehr als einer Handvoll neuer Songs erfreut. Wir hören Lieder voller Kraft, Witz und Lebenserfahrung über die ewigen Themen Liebe, Sucht, Fernreisen und das Wetter in der weltweit einmaligen Mischung aus Polka und Rock’n’Roll, Tex-Mex und Balkan-Blues, Ska und Country, aus Schmutz und Schmalz.
